Peer Review Reflection: Essay 3

Peer Review Reflection: Essay 3

For this round of peer review, I chose to be partners with Brooke. We decided to go along and reference back to the previous guidelines that we had used for the last essay. We would each make at least one comment referring to each aspect that was on the peer review check list. Brooke’s comments were extremely positive, and helped me feel more confident about my writing skills. However, I wish she would give me more general constructive feedback. It…

Annotated Sources: Essay 3

During this round of annotations, I had not made as many text to self connections. However, I had improved by using more than one color when highlighting, and I would make notes/text to text comments wherever necessary. Compared to my first annotation this year, I have improved greatly by applying active reading to my notes and planning of each essay.

Greenfield Chunking Method

Greenfield Chunking Method

After comparing my annotations with my peers, I have noticed that I didn’t seem to grasp the concept of the chunking method. I had used small sections to “chunk” portions of information, but I had continuously practiced this throughout the chapter. Now that I know how my annotations should look, I will use the chunking method more efficiently.

Data Collection Integrating Ideas

Data Collection Integrating Ideas

The podcasts that I listened to has made me think about how the activity that I have gives other people information (without my knowledge). Personally, I’m not completely concerned in regards to companies viewing my feed in order to advertise things that would interest me. Those are meant to give the viewer a better experience, along with giving companies an idea of what the majority of the population likes (more ideas for selling products) (Goldbeck). However, I do not like…

Learning Outcome: Essay 2

Learning Outcome: Essay 2

An example of where I have made progress from the first class essay to the second one, is my MLA formatting. I had not been using MLA throughout my previous essays, for I had not known about the format. Now that I have looked through the Little Seagull book, I will be able to use MLA format more regularly in my essays. An example would be adding page numbers along with a header on each page. I also improved my…

Relationship with Technology

Relationship with Technology

Our relationship is rather new. We have only been together for a few weeks since I was recently “adopted” from the Verizon Store. My owner has been rather disappointed with me lately. She complains to all of her friends that I am supposed to have such amazing quality, yet I seem to appear weaker than her last phone. I am the newest addition! How could this be possible? Whenever we go to take pictures together, she never likes to save…

MLA & Surface Level-Revision

MLA & Surface Level-Revision

In my social media essay, I have gotten to the point where I must focus on surface level revisions. I am currently focusing on the clarity of each individual sentence. Also, I after viewing the clarity, I am going to make sure that each sentence connects with the next smoothly, and without confusion. After those more important steps, I am going to focus in to the grammar/structure aspect of my sentences. Lastly, I will go through the entire paper, and…

Pre-writing Social Media

Pre-writing Social Media

For the previous essay, I had focused on creating timelines and “spider webs.” On this essay, I switched up my pre-writing routine, and decided to individually answer each question that was presented on the rubric for the style that I chose. One thing that I should have originally done differently was to avoid using my experience in the notes, since I wasn’t going to use it in the essay. However, I can simply use the same concepts and beliefs, but…

TREAC Practice

TREAC Practice

[Topic] Today’s generation is being corrupted by technology to dis-enable our productiveness.[Restriction] There are concerns throughout society, about teens lacking in independence due to the presence of their phones.[Exhibit] For example, in “Have Smartphones Destroyed a Generation?,” journalist Jean Twenge develops examples on how high school students are not facing the same behaviors of those from previous generations. For example, being able to achieve your drivers license. According to Twenge, “Nearly all Boomer high-school students had their driver’s license by…
