Annotated Sources: Essay 3

During this round of annotations, I had not made as many text to self connections. However, I had improved by using more than one color when highlighting, and I would make notes/text to text comments wherever necessary. Compared to my first annotation this year, I have improved greatly by applying active reading to my notes and planning of each essay.

After comparing my annotations with my peers, I have noticed that I didn’t seem to grasp the concept of the chunking method. I had used small sections to “chunk” portions of information, but I had continuously practiced this throughout the chapter. Now that I know how my annotations should look, I will use the chunking method more efficiently.

After reviewing my notes and annotations for Bain’s What the Best College Students Do, on chapter 2, “What Makes an Expert?”, I have noticed a tremendous amount of improvement in my active reading.
