Preparation for Licensure and Transition to Professional Practice

Preparation for Licensure and Transition to Professional Practice

Reflecting on my usage of ATI, I have noticed great changes in the amount of confidence that I have in regard to using the software and appropriately providing remediations for myself. Although my average grades have not changed, my timing for answering questions and creating remediations has lowered immensely. This tells me that I am gaining more confidence with my critical thinking skill set. I am also able to write down my ATI remediations within the course of one sitting. At the beginning of the semester, I would take at least 4 days to process through both the exam and the remediations. Now, I can focus more on the content, which takes me at most 2 seated sessions. This will help me as I prepare for the NCLEX exam, as there will not be breaks provided for new grads, and we will need to gear our focus on the exam for the entirety of the timing that it allows us.

By using remediations as a continuation of learning and practice, I have seen drastic changes in my proctored exam grades. I have completed at least 2 pharmacological practice exams throughout the course of the semester. Although I did not receive the best grades on those practice sessions, the use of my remediations for study material helped me out immensely for the proctored exam. I ended with a level 2, which is proficient and promising for a student who is preparing for the NCLEX exam. I noticed that these practice sessions had helped me with my overall end grade.

As I am nearing the end of the semester, I am finding that the workload is building up a lot in preparation for graduation and working as a new graduate. To better prepare for this next month, I have been spending most of my free time completing assignments that are due well in advance. This may increase my stress levels a little bit at this moment. However, my current workload is small, so it is more manageable than preparing for 4 paper requirements that need to be fulfilled within the course of two weeks. I feel that by chipping away at the assignments that are due in the future, I will be able to focus more on finishing my proctored exams, rather than worrying. I have also been implementing a self-care day, during times when I am home by myself. I thrive more when I am in a clean environment, so I spend those days alone cleaning my house, and guiding myself through self-care activities so that I will be in the best mood moving forward onto the end of this semester. This will aid in optimizing my motivation in completing course work. I have not held these values previously and felt overwhelmed previously about the workload that I had for all courses. This new habit that I am implementing is improving my grades and attitude towards my classes.

Once undergraduate school is over and I need to prepare for my state exam, I am going to utilize a lot of the same techniques that we have learned in class to study for the exam. After studying, I will look online for practices quizzes and questions that could possibly be implemented on my exam. Once I finish those quizzes, I will look back on the questions that I got wrong and remediate them to refresh my memory on the concepts that I may not feel confident about.  Therefore, I find that these ATI practices are going to be very insightful when I begin preparing for the NCLEX state exam.
