Presenting Change
This is the portion of our group project in which we receive feedback from the clinical unit that we provided informative posters to. Our audience was considered to be asynchronous, as our presentation was sent remotely. They were able to communicate their feedback through a code that they can scan through their phones. The code will bring the audience to a feedback form that asks various questions regarding around their thoughts and suggestions revolving around the quality of the poster information. Overall, our feedback provided positive results in terms of feasibility around changing their practices on the unit. One form of constructive criticism that we did receive was a question on how we will be able to afford a change in terms of helpful sleep materials that we can provide for the patient. This includes aromatherapy, fans, etc. This can add extra cost to the hospital and may not be as easily attainable as other actions such as providing massages or lowering screen time prior to bed.
If I were reporting my reflection to a future employer, I would want to ensure that they are aware of my ability to conduct team measures in order to create an orderly conduct in evidence-based research activities. In other words, my group was able to collaborate as an interprofessional team to conduct research on a topic that we found was pertinent to our clinical’s environment. As an individual, I have now learned a skill base that allows me to research various evidence-based resources and compile them into one professional statement that includes the sources that back up a change in quality care for our patients. I am able to create creative forms of presentation through poster design to appeal to my audience so that they will be interested in learning the information that is available. My group was effective on completing assignments on time, and in a qualitative manner.
As a team member, I have learned that I enjoy collaborating for final results of our assignments and drafts. However, I had a hard time with doing assignments altogether. I am the type of person who enjoys performing my own work privately, so that I can concentrate on the tasks that need to be completed. After the fact, I am comfortable with sharing what I wrote with my peers. This can relate in terms of nursing, as many nurses perform individualized tasks that are then reported and collaborated with other team members. For example, if a nurse finds an abnormal finding, they will then report to a provider to order further diagnostics. This relates to how I was able to work with my team members. If there was a part of the assignment that confused me, or that I wished to discuss more, I would reach out and ask for their professional opinions. Overall, I discovered that teamwork is the optimal way to provide the best quality care to our patients. Therefore, this dissemination project provided the opportunity to further expand on our teamwork and evidence-based practice skills.
