From Inquiry to Discovery
My team has faced some challenges since the beginning of this project. We began the project by designing a PICOT formed, evidenced based-practice (EBP) question regarding whether handwashing or gel washing is more efficient. We hit some roadblocks by first realizing that there are not many studies that directly investigated our topic. We later found out that the article that we could find on the topic were out of the timeline that we were looking for. In other words, all the journals exceeded the age of 5 years, which a contraindication for what is expected in our resources. After these attempts, our group collectively decided that it was best to design a new EBP question. We have found more success after changing our topic to a broader subject that does not have any predesigned bias in the question. After making this change, we have found at least 3 promising resources that we can utilize moving forward.
There are not many challenges that we face as a team. The only slight challenge that I personally face is that our group works on our documents far earlier than the assignments are due, so by the time I try to collaborate, most of the work had been finished prior. I plan on solving this issue by attempting to reach out to my group and ask if we could possibly work on the assignments together in person so that I can be more productive within the group. Overall, we are doing a good job at getting assignments in on time and developing quality thinking skills in our work.
