Critical Care Paragraph
A chapter that I found interesting was chapter 7, called “openings.” This chapter goes into detail about a patient that was rather difficult to deal with for most nurses. This patient had an open wound in their stomach that would not easily heal. Theresa goes into detail on how this particular patient gave her an alternative outlook to the reality of how frail the human body can really be. She also relates the patient story to how she talks about life and death with her family at home. I find this chapter very interesting because it shows the realism of how we won’t always get patients who are particularly kind to us, but promoting kindness towards them, will make either an impact on yourself, and/or your patient.
