The Success that comes from Failure: Podcast Edition
Reflection: It took a long time for me to create this podcast.Creating the script lasted for around 30 minutes. Before I did any recording, I had taken about 45 minutes looking up tutorial videos on Audacity and how to use it. Then, during recording, I had some points where I had made lots of pauses or “ums.” Rather than writing out a full script for myself, I had written a full questions and phrases for my interviewer, but I only included small notes for myself (I figured it would flow nicer that way). Recording took around an hour, to repeat or redo certain sections of audio. Then, I spent around 2 hours attempting to edit my audio. My computer had multiple technical difficulties during this time, so I had to repeat steps occasionally. The most difficult portion for me was being able to include music and prevent it from becoming distracting. I originally wanted to only include it at the beginning and end of the podcast. However, after watching more Youtube videos, I still couldn’t figure out how to get everything to work together smoothly in the amount of time that I had. So, I quieted the music down and left it running for the majority of the podcast. If I could do this assignment again, I would’ve written a full script to prevent the “ums” and I would try to keep the music more quiet so that it doesn’t become distracting to the listener.

I really think the different voices and music in your podcast make it interesting. This being the “format” I enjoyed the most. I would make the recommendation to use the envelope tool to quiet the music a bit so its not as distracting and overlays your voice track a bit better. Also you could let it play a bit longer after your done talking to make it seemed more finished and not just cut off cold turkey. I really enjoyed your story and definitely could relate to it as I did ballet for a year. I liked that you used an extra curricular instead of just a class or academic reference.
